Jellyfish Please!

Etsy

I finally released my pattern for my Rainbow Amigurumi Jellyfish. :)
I took my time writing up the pattern and photographing my process for this tutorial pattern. Its a simple pattern that even a beginner can understand. I'm really excited about this PDF. :D

So much to do!

I've been so busy lately! Work, Swaps, Convention Planning! It really knows how to eat up your time. PariahCon is less than 1 month away! I feel a bit overwhelmed because I have to get some Miss Pokemon Sashes made and I currently have no one to make them! D: Time to scout out the local sewing shops for someone who will take a commission on an embroidery machine. I hope that goes well.

In other craft-tastic news, last month I joined the On-Going Wish Swap over on Craftster. Here are the goodies I mailed out to Miss PixieVal. I claimed her for some grannie squares and a Wisty Surprise!

Aren't those slippers just the cutest!? I bought Sylvia's Pattern for Skimmers and they turned out so cute! Bravo Sylvia! I would never have come up with constructing these slippers on my own. And I'm currently in the process of making a pair for myself :D

Pretty Purple Blankie

I few months ago I decided to crochet a baby blanket for someone who was a having a baby....well....turns out they are not having a girl...and this blanket is purple. Well, I decided to go ahead and finish it anyway. It was a good stash buster and is a super cute design! I am thinking about selling this one in my Etsy Shop and make a boy colored blanket instead. My only hesitant is that this blanket is 21"x 22" and I think that is too small to be a baby blanket. I don't know if people sell blankets this small and is it even worth selling. Either way, the photos came out awesome!

News and Slips!

This week has been madness! Between work, commissions, and my crafting obligations, I've been pulling late nights. I finished up and mailed out my Craft My Wists Swap package today. My partner Snazzle is going to be so happy! One of her crafted items I couldn't help but make for myself! A pair of super awesome, super comfy, crocheted slip ons! I love them! I haven't taken them off! Want to make yourself a pair? Free pattern on Ravelry!

I really cut my Wists swap close! Packages are set to mail out today the 15th and I just happened to book myself a flight for tomorrow the 16th! Phew! At least they were 1 day apart. My mom and I will be going to visit family in NJ. We're flying into Philadelphia and we're also going to see NYC! I am super excited! Being from FL, I can't wait to get out of this heat! Time to start packing! (and figuring out what yarns and projects I want to accompany me) My plane leaves early tomorrow morning. ;)

Clutch Happy!

Elise came across this wonderful tutorial for a gathered pouch. After seeing hers in person I was inspired to make one myself! I knew exactly what I needed it for!

As you can see, my crochet hooks are being toted around in a falling apart zip lock bag. Not anymore!

Viola! Completed pouch! Fabric is called Jewel Stripe from the Alexander Henry Fabrics Collection on Fabric Worm. I really, really like it! Its so cheerful and fun. And when matched with the pink stripe accent it's just perfect. I'm happy to have gotten back to sewing again, I really haven't in a while. Seriously, Brand New Viking machine sat in it's box for 4 months. For Shame Tori! For Shame. It's finally getting some good use and it's fabulous! Now onto some Action Shots!

OTT HP Swap!

It's narrowing down the time for everyone to find out what their partners have concocted in the One Tiny Thing Harry Potter Swap over on Craftster. Since my partner received yesterday, I wanted to share my newest Amigurumi.

A tiny Hedgwig! :D She sits 2.5" high and is super photogenic! I'm really pleased with how well she turned out. I'm so glad my partner likes her. I will be receiving my swap package from her on Monday!

Baby Blankets!

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

My cousin is having a baby girl and I decided to use up some of my yarn stash and make her a blanket. I've never made a blanket before so I've been on Ravelry browsing and narrowing down my choices. So far the top 3 are my favorites. :) I have a feeling this is going to take a while.

Free Crochet Pattern: Zip Line Scarf

Free Crochet Pattern: Zip Line Scarf

Gauge: Not important. Judge by your yarn weight. I used an H for my medium worsted yarn. I recommend an I or J for chunky yarns.

**Remember The chunkier your yarn, the thicker and wider your scarf will be.

Stitches Used:
ch – Chain Stitch
dc – Double Crochet
slst – Slip Stitch
fpdc – Front Post Double Crochet
bpdc – Back Post Double Crochet
Shell - Shell Stitch (2 dc, 1 ch, 2 dc in same stitch)

If you are unsure how to make a fpdc or bpdc I recommend looking up the stitches on youtube.

*This scarf takes roughly 2 skeins of yarn. I use about 340 yards. *If you use specialty yarn that is less around 100 yards a skein, I recommend getting 4 skeins.

*Note. After finishing with your first skein of yarn, I recommend cutting your fringe. It will lay nicer if the yarn is cut from the top of the skein. Towards the end the yarn gets curly. I cut 4-5 strands for each set of fringe, depending on yarn weight. You will need 12 sets of fringe.

*We will first be creating loops. These are important because they are used to attach the fringe to the scarf. The double crochet is also important, it acts as a filler stitch so there will be no gaps.

Pattern:
1. Ch 19. (Leave a long tail, it will be tucked and blended into the fringe later)
2. Ch 3, dc in your original 19th stitch. (4th chain from hook) Skip 2 ch, slst in 3rd ch. *Ch 3, dc in same stitch, skip 2 ch, slst in 3rd ch. Continue from * to end. (you should have 6 loops total)

*Do not turn, instead continue on the top stitches of your original 19 chains.

3. Ch 3, Shell Stitch into first chain (ch will be connected to your slst knot), *skip 2 ch, dc, skip 2 ch, shell, Continue from *. (Last stitch should be a shell), Turn.

4. Ch 3, shell in first shell stitch gap. (the chain between your dcs), *bpdc around next dc, shell in next shell stitch gap. Repeat from *. Turn.
5. Ch 3, shell in first shell stitch gap, *fpdc around previous stitch's bpdc, shell in next shell stitch gap. Repeat from *. Turn.
6. Continue alternating bpdc and fpdc pattern until desired length.

F.O.
7. Ch 3, *dc in same stitch, skip 3 stitches. Slst in next stitch. Ch 3 repeat from * to end. (last stitch will fall on outside chain stitch)

8. Attach Fringe through the chain loops only, don't pull fringe through the dc's.

This scarf makes a great gift for family and friends! Or just make one for yourself! It's really easy and relaxing once you get the hang of it. I love this pattern and I hope you will too :) I also put this pattern up on Ravelry. If you make one I'd love to see it!

For Personal Use Only Please. :)

Amigurumi 10th Doctor!

I have been waiting to post these photos! Oh I'm such a proud crafter! Absolutely Thrilled with how he turned out. The most difficult part was figuring out how to do his hair. I had to do justice! David Tennant has great hair! I think this method was perfect! :)

Squeee! His little sideburns are my favorite part! :D

My partner LOVED him. I'm so happy. I plan to make one for myself and write down the pattern as I go. Then I'll be able to post it online. :)

Gumdrop Slouchy Hat

One of my completed hat projects that I wanted to share. :) The pattern is the Gumdrop Slouchy Hat over on the Gleeful Things Blog. I really loved the outcome of this hat. The pattern is easy enough to follow for even a beginner. I'm not much of a slouchy hat kinda girl. But I do like this pattern. The dark colors look surprisingly well with my blonde locks.

Keep in mind if you want to do a variegated yarn like I did, your crochet color bars won't be consistent at the beginnings of the rows. You can see exactly where my rows end/begin. Overall, this was a quick crochet project and I really like wearing this hat!

Hat Que

I wanted to share the current hat projects in my Raverly cue. I've been in a real hat mood lately. Maybe its due to Florida actually getting some cool weather. I'm really new to knitting, and so far every attempt at a hat, (specifically the last one listed above) has come out extremely small. Even when I use a needle thats 2 sizes larger. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. My gage is seriously off. I'm youtube self taught so far...so it just might be time to Q&A an expert knitter.

What are you currently working on?
